Communication Issues
I was very suprised that it took that long to get a referral slip for Ginny to see the school counselor. I wonder what communication is like in this school between teaching staff, administration and the school counselor. The first red flag are Ginny's writings in class, the second is dropping grades and her removing herself from activities she loves. Also all the abrupt changes in her appearance. Responsive services should have been initiated at the beginning of the school year. Any thoughts on that and the lack of communication between staff?

There was a few instances in the book that also made me question the effectiveness of the faculty at her middle school. It seems the attention to the students and the communication among faculty was not the greatest. I would this is the exception to the rule. However, being a girl entering her teen years, I can see that Ginny is experiencing some identity changes that many kids at her age go through. Even so, I would have liked to see more involvement with her counselor, or at the very least, a little more empathetic involvement with one of her teachers. If anything, I suppose we can learn from this observation in the story and make sure not to repeat the same faults in our careers!
